Fashion in the 80s punk rock scene consisted of rebellion and political and social messages, often used as a form of protest against the government and society. During this time period we also saw both males and females challenging traditional gender roles through their fashion choices, breaking cultural norms. Many would describe the outfits provocative with a lot of punks layering chains and different metals along with ripped fishnet stocking, adding an edgy element. Leather was also staple when it came to being a rockstar whether it was a jacket or pants or belts an outfit was never complete without it, people would also DIY these items by adding metal studs, spikes, pins or patches making these very popular accessories.
